I Used to be a Stressed and Sleepy Mom, Too
I'm Sarah. I’m 51, and for much of my adult life, I lived with crippling anxiety and insomnia. I tried nearly everything to fix it myself — breathing techniques, posture work, and every relaxation method I could find. By far, the most effective tool I found was a method called Feldenkrais®: a gentle, secular approach using slow, small movements of the body to calm the nervous system. It genuinely worked better than yoga, better than anything else I'd tried. I trained as a Feldenkrais® practitioner over twenty years ago, and I've spent the last couple of decades teaching it, alongside classical voice and piano, to hundreds of students.
But even with all of that — even with a method I had truly benefited from — something was still missing.
For several years, I had walked away from my Christian faith entirely. Eventually, after a series of moments in my life I can only describe as answered prayer, I came back to Christianity, first as a Protestant, and with my whole heart. I thought that was the end of the story. It wasn't.
Even after that return to faith, I kept sensing there was a piece still missing. So I started digging deeper — studying scripture more closely, and slowly, carefully, exploring Catholicism. My husband is Catholic, and, knowing that his faith had formed him as a child, was part of what drew me forward. After an intense season of prayer, study, and real questioning through the OCIA process, I made the decision to become Catholic. It's been the missing piece I didn't know I was looking for, and it's brought me a sense of peace and fulfillment I hadn't found anywhere else — one I hope my own teenage children see in me and might one day want for themselves.
Along the way, I also changed how I eat, which helped alongside everything else — but the two things that made the deepest difference were the Feldenkrais® method and my Catholic faith, together.
That combination is what I now want to bring to other Catholic women.
I kept running into the same two problems whenever I looked for help online: most relaxation content leans on non-Christian visualizations or yoga poses that never felt right for my faith, and most of it simply isn't as effective as Feldenkrais®. Lately, I've noticed a third problem too — a lot of it sounds AI-generated, the words and even the voice. You will never find that here. Every word I speak in the exercises is either my own or drawn directly from scripture and the saints. Every voice you hear is truly mine, whether I’m speaking or singing.
I built this method to help Catholic women like you — exhausted, anxious, running on empty — actually sleep at night, start the morning with a clearer head, and reset in the middle of a hard afternoon instead of snapping at the people you love most. But not with tricks. With a method I've spent twenty years refining, and a faith that finally made it whole.
